The Next Chapter

The sun is shining in the sky and on Chandler. She continues to bewilder the doctors and nurses with her steadfast mental fortitude, her relentless holistic practices and phenomenal response. Today marks treatment 17, we are so thankful Chandler has responded in such a positive way with to this treatment. Her body fully accepted the medicine, and used it to its fullest potential. Coupled with the holistic daily practices, her body terrain has completely changed and is irradiating the disease. We give thanks daily for this response and are exited to see what is next.

Chandler has been referred to UCSF to meet with surgeons to discuss potential surgery to fully remedy the disease. Dr. Semrad expressed that Chandler has fully beaten the odds and the mindset around her has shifted from treating her to healing her. Chandlers last scans showed continue reduction in size across the board. A phenomenal result. Chandler has stopped taking 1 of the 5 drugs in the breakwater regime due to its intense side effects (oxaliplaton). She is dealing with some incredibly annoying neuropathy, think of your foot or hands falling asleep and then times that pain by 10 and it doesn’t wake up… no fun. Dr Semrad informed us that it gets worse before it gets better, after the last treatment with the oxaliplaton (treatment 11) it builds on itself for 8-12 weeks, plateaus and then slowly diminishes over the next few months. As of this week she feels mild relief which tells us she is on the downward slope of the trajectory. Praise be.

Chandler is meeting with 2 surgeons at UCSF, Dr. Varma, the head of colorectal surgery at UCSF and Dr. Corvera, a highly respected liver surgeon. We are meeting with Dr. Varma on Monday and then Dr. Corvera on Wednesday. Chandler asks for all her people to keep her in your thoughts and prayers next week. We are going into this completely open, she has come so far and we are eager to learn what these incredible minds at UCSF see for her future. Chandler refers to it as graduation, she has gotten straight As, written her thesis, now it’s time to get that diploma!

At the end of the day, Chandler has defied all odds and is continuing her relentless pursuit of healing. We both are so incredibly thankful for the love and support we have been surrounded by during this journey. Thank you all for everything and we are excited to share the next chapter of this journey with you all.

Many friends and family have asked “can we still help?” Yes! Everything Chandler is doing on the holistic side is clearly working because of the results we are seeing. We are now having to travel to UCSF to meet with Surgeons and will most likely travel to SF multiple times through this next chapter. These healing activities cost a lot but are well worth it. We so appreciated the continued support.
