Second Scans Update

Chandler has now finished 10 treatments and after the 8th treatment underwent scans to check progress, we then met with Dr. Semrad to review Chan’s scans. Scans show a CLEAR control of all tumors and reduction across the board. The rectum spot was not worded as a “mass” or “tumor” meaning the tumor itself is GONE, the report mentions “wall thickening” but no where does it state tumor or mass. Dr. Semrad said this is a great indication that is reacting exceptionally well to the treatment. After discussion with Dr. Semrad we have decided  that Chandler is going to get a total of 8 more treatments to maximize the chemo. She will continue on the same 4 drug regime that she has been getting since the beginning (immunotherapy infusion, chemo infusion, oral chemo and chemo pump).

Then after the 12th treatment, they will remove 1 of the 4 drugs (oxaliplatin) and continue the rest of the drugs for the last 4 treatments. By removing this incredibly powerful drug it will do 2 things: the first is that removing this drug after 12 treatments will protect Chandler against irresvisable neuropathy, most patients only receive 8 treatmetns with oxaliplatin due to its intense side effects, mainly neuropathy. However, because Chandler has responded so well to the regime as whole and her side effects are DECREASING not increasing with each treatment, Dr. Semrad believes we can continue with the oxaliplatin for a total of 12 treatmtens to maximize its effectiveness.  The second is that after 12 treatmenst, she will then have 4 more (total of 16 infusions) which will establish control - showing stability, decrease and no new growth. Establishing control will open the door for potential surgery!

This is a massive moment in Chandler’s recovery because surgery was not on the table in the beginning due to the BRAF mutation. This type of mutation is a very aggressive mutation so historically they have never been able to have surgery because of its nature. BUT because Chandler has had such a STRONG response, showing decrease and control, now it is on the table.

Dr. Semrad was very honest with us and said Chandler had a 5% chance of getting to this point when he first met her. The three of us shared tears, a very heartfelt moment. Now that she’s this far along, his goal has shifted from control and longevity to getting Chandler CANCER FREE. The surgery would be to remove any spots still showing on CT Scans and remove surrounding areas of where spots were to eliminate any potential for resurgence.

This is a massive step in an uncharted direction as Chandler would be the first person that he’s treated to have surgery after stage 4 BRAF colorectal diagnosis. Chandler is doubling down on everything, continuing to use food as medicine, leaning into her daily wellness routine with the Infrared Sauna, Red Light, Amethyst PEMF Mat, Shaker Plate and all the tinctures and herbs. We know SHE CHAN do this and is GOING TO. Now is the time to shine.

We have created a website for Chandler that will provide updates on her journey but also serve as a way for people to continue to support Chandler through donations. We are going to invest in a Hyperbaric Chamber to add to her Wellness Oasis. She has been going to the Tahoe Hyperbaric to utilize their Hyperbaric Chamber but the $200 cost of a session is adding up quickly going multiple times a week, whereas if we invest in our own home hyperbaric, we can offset the price within a matter of months.
